Quote of the Day

Thanks to my student, Paul, for reminding me today of this quote by Harriet Beecher Stowe in Uncle Tom's Cabin:

So much has been said and sung of beautiful young girls, why doesn’t somebody wake up to the beauty of old women?

I did not see one old woman in Israel. Think about it...

No old women? What do you make of that, Sandi?

Great quote. Thanks.

Welcome home.

Thanks. Good to have gone; good to be home.

What do I make of it? Not sure. I'm told that women over 65 in Israel make up only about 7-8% of the population. Wondering if Hitler played a role...

Also, they don't have OSHA, so it's easy to stumble everywhere you go--not very accessible for feeble legs. The stats say there are even fewer old men, but I did see a few of them. I expected to see some old women at the Western Wall, but I saw zero. Or perhaps it's that old women no longer look old to me!
